Artificial lift systems have been successfully used to produce volumes higher than what is possible with reservoir energy. As need to produce from harsh and unconventional environments expands the application techniques for artificial lift and production optimisation need to be adapted. This course provides overview of challenges faced while lifting from hot, heavy, and unconventional reservoirs. Using case studies across the globe, issues encountered, and lift solutions applied for harsh and non-traditional environments like thermal, HPHT, highly corrosive, gassy, and sandy production. Also lifting from shale reservoirs are addressed. A special discussion on digital oilfield’s importance in lift and production optimisation is also included.
