CorDEX Instruments’ UT5000 intrinsically safe thickness gauge is a hand-held measuring device that can be used for nondestructive testing and is capable of recording multiple readings at specific locations. Nine multipoint readings can be saved against each radio frequency identification tag on an asset, which the company said reduces time spent in the field and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of corrosion monitoring. Metal thickness can be measured accurately to the nearest thousandth of an inch through a painted surface. Certified for hazardous areas, the monitor is also certified for use in dust environments that have been assessed as having an explosion risk.
