Production Optimisation System

Disciplines: Production and Operations

Course Description

Total producing system as a group of components encompassing reservoir rock, completions, vertical flow strings, reassertions, horizontal, inclined flow lines, risers, gathering system networks, compressors, pump stations, metering system, and market system rate/pressure. An improper design of any one component, or a mismatch of components, adversely affects the performance of the entire system. Nodal analysis identifies bottlenecks and serves as a framework for the designing of efficient field wide flow system including wells, artificial lift, gathering lines, and manifold. Production optimisation analysis is used also in planning new field development.

Learning Objective:

The basic objective of this seminar is to introduce the overview and concept of production optimisation and using nodal analysis as a tool in production optimisation and hence enhancement. The participants are exposed to the analysis of various elements that help in production system starting from reservoir to surface processing facilities and their effect on the performance of the total production system.

Topics:
  • Introduction
  • Basics of production petroleum system
  • Production optimisation
  • Need for and selection for artificial lift methods
  • Production system analysis
    • Inflow performance relationship
    • Outflow performance relationship
    • Liquid loading in gas wells
    • Selection of design parameters based on field measurements
  • Real-Time oil or gas field optimisation
  • Network optimisation basics
