Sonnet Robertson Headshot

Hello! My name is Sonnet Robertson, and I am a senior at The Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where I study Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. Apart from my studies I am involved in multiple clubs on-and-off campus including: The Monongahela Rockhounds Geology Club, the American Association of Drilling Engineers, the newly founded Slippery Rock University chapter of Women in Engineering, and the National Society of Petroleum Engineers as well as the Slippery Rock chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, where I serve as secretary. This year I was lucky enough to do research alongside Dr. Xindi Sun into the effects of polymer flooding and crosslinker solution injection on a porous media, which we will be continuing in the fall. In my free time I enjoy painting and running, with hopes of completing a half-marathon sometime within the next year. Currently, I am a Gas Field Engineering Intern under Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, where I am tasked with designing the abandonment of corroded steel pipes, and installation of new plastic piping.

I would like to greatly thank the Russell family, along with the Society of Petroleum Engineers Scholarship Committee for awarding me this scholarship. It was a great honor to be chosen as the recipient of this scholarship and I am very proud of my accomplishments within this field.
