SPE is a professional association whose 79,000-plus members worldwide are engaged in energy resources development and production. SPE is a key resource for technical information related to oil and gas exploration and production and provides services online and through its publications, meetings, and other programs.
SPE Board Approves New Programs
At its most recent meeting, the SPE Board of Directors approved the following:
- A pilot program to translate into Spanish the Petroleum Resources Management System
- A program to support retired members by collaborating with Expert Alumni to match members who are interested in continuing to use their expertise on a contract or part-time basis with companies that are seeking assistance.
- A new Production and Operations Technical Section to allow SPE members with a common interest in a technical area to share ideas, promote competence, and develop projects related to their technical interest.
Details will be published in the September issue of Journal of Petroleum Technology.

The views of more than 700 young professionals about social responsibility and sustainability are summarized in survey results published in the latest edition of The Way Ahead, the SPE magazine for E&P professionals under age 35.
SPE Members Invited to Edit, Expand New Multi-Language Glossary
The SPE E&P Glossary is a new multi-language reference for upstream oil and gas terms. SPE members are encouraged to directly add or edit terms, definitions and translations. Initial languages targeted for translation are Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. English terms may also be added or edited. Instructions are provided.
Share New Videos with Colleagues - Free through July
Full-length videos of five selected SPE Distinguished Lecturers are available free through July. Normally these are open to SPE members only.
