The Gold Standard Award and Outstanding Student Chapter Award

The Gold Standard Award is available to all student chapters that have accomplished an admirable level of activity. The Outstanding Student Chapter award recognizes exceptional merit. Submit your annual report by 1 April to be eligible for both.

Our grant program assists universities with SPE student chapters, where financial need warrants, free access to SPE papers in OnePetro.

Host a paper contest

Students can showcase their skills by participating in paper contests hosted by chapters. As the hosting chapter, you will nominate judges, provide moderators, invite students to participate in the contest and present prizes to the winners.

Student Technical Development Funds

The program provides funds for chapter programs and activities such as field trips, social events, travel to SPE section meetings and travel to Regional Student Paper Contests. Chapters must submit an annual report by 1 April to be eligible.

The funds are calculated per student chapter member as of 31 December. Each chapter will receive USD 10 per student member, up to a maximum of USD 2,000 per chapter. Funds are disbursed by May.

Manage your chapter

All chapters are required to send us an annual report by 1 April (or 1 November for chapters with a March through November academic year).

You can also let us know of any chapter and student changes, order supplies, and submit reports.
