Basics of ESP


Disciplines: Production and Operations

Course Description

This one-day introductory course is designed to provide a practical overview of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) for oilfield technical professionals. The course emphasizes the understanding of system configuration and theory of operation. A majority focus of the class time will be dedicated to comprehending the contribution of each component of the ESP to the overall system.

The learning objectives of the course are:

  • To enable students to engage in discussions regarding ESP designs with vendors
  • To help students understand technical discussions with field staff
  • To educate students on when to use ESPs instead of other forms of artificial lift.
  • A basic understanding of ESP sizing and application

By taking this course, oilfield technical professionals will gain a general understanding of ESPs, which will allow them to communicate more effectively with vendors and field staff and make informed decisions regarding artificial lift techniques.

This course is aimed at production and operation professionals who wish to acquire fundamental knowledge about ESP equipment and theory of operation.

0.8 CEUs are awarded for this 1-day course.

All cancellations must be received no later than 14 days prior to the course start date. Cancellations made after the 14-day window will not be refunded. Refunds will not be given due to no show situations.

Brett Reel has worked domestically and internationally in the Oil and Gas industry for over 35 years. With expertise as a Journeyman Electrician, extensive experience in field service, and years in strategic operations across numerous Oil and Gas segments, Brett is uniquely qualified and has had the pleasure of developing and presenting ESP technical training curriculum across the globe.

In his current role as Chief of Staff at Extract Companies, Brett acts as a consultant and mentor to industry leaders at Extract and Oil and Gas Operators.
