Mike Berry, PE, SPE is an independent artificial lift consultant with nearly 40 years of experience in the petroleum industry. During those 40 years, his positions have ranged widely from a roustabout standing knee deep in crude all the way to a research scientist testing state-of-art equipment the world’s premier multiphase flow loops. He has served on numerous SPE committees and occasionally serves as a PetroSkills instructor. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and is a licensed professional engineer.

David Divine has over 40 years’ experience in the oil industry. His experience includes service with Texaco Inc. where he developed the first practical variable speed submersible pumping system and is the author of several papers on this topic.  He co-founded Submersible Oil Systems, a company that designed and manufactured a variable speed controller for submersible pumping. After Centrilift-Hughes acquired SOS, he served as Vice President over the Systems Division of Centrilift-Hughes.  He then co-founded Electric Submersible Pumps, Inc. (ESP, Inc.) and served as Vice President of Engineering to develop many of the current standards for testing used submersible equipment.  In 1997 he became an independent consultant and then transitioned to working for Baker at their Educational Development Center in Claremore, Oklahoma for Centrilift in September of 2002.

In July of 2007, Mr. Divine began work with Wood Group ESP, Inc. as a Principle Engineer. His duties included improving the method and equipment used for varnishing new ESP motors. In 2009 he became the team leader for developing “Solutions”, the ESP sizing software for Wood Group ESP.  Wood Group ESP was acquired by GE Oil and Gas in May of 2011 and Mr. Divine continued in the position of Solutions development team leader until his retirement from GE Oil and Gas in 2016.  Shortly thereafter, Mr. Divine began working for Valiant Artificial Lift Solutions as a Principal Engineer.

Mr. Divine is a member of the Texas Tech Electrical Engineering Academy and is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at Texas Tech University. He is the 1995 recipient of the J. C.
